CHICAGO — An investigation is underway after an overnight drive-by shooting on the city’s Southwest Side left two men injured.

The gunfire erupted just before 10 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Merrimac Avenue in Garfield Ridge on Sunday night, police say.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a 26-year-old man, who had been shot in the torso. Authorities say he was then taken to the hospital in critical condition.

According to police, a 43-year-old man also suffered a graze wound to his stomach and was taken to the hospital in good condition.

A witness told responding officers that the shots were fired from a black sedan which then fled the scene.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and officers say no arrests have been made.
