Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour to Stream Exclusively on Disney+ Next Month

In a big get for the streaming platform, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will stream exclusively on Disney+ next month, including five bonus songs.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the news during today’s earnings call. The mega-hit concert movie will debut on Disney+ on March 15, cheekily called Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour (Taylor’s Version). It’ll include a bonus performance of “Cardigan,” in addition to four other acoustic songs.

It’s quite the move for Disney, which has leaned more on Disney-produced content to prop up its streaming platform rather that licensing film and television from other studios. The Eras Tour, however, marked a fairly untraditional case, given that it was produced by Swift’s own in-house production company, which worked directly with AMC Theatres and Cinemark to nail down a theatrical distribution deal.

That approach would prove wildly successful, with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour grossing $261 million worldwide (per Box Office Mojo). The actual tour itself was also a massive money-maker, with the Associated Press reporting that it became the first tour in history to generate more than $1 billion from ticket sales alone.

In December, The Eras Tour became available to rent for $19.99 on platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube, but the Disney+ deal will mark the first time it’ll stream for free for subscribers of a particular streaming service.

The news about Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was only one of a handful of announcements Iger made amid today’s earnings call, where he also revealed that Percy Jackson and The Olympians has been renewed for a second season.
